The aim of the present article is to present the methodology used to develop a maintenance engineering tool which aims to control the most relevant technical parameters during the stage of employment for the Galil ACE 22 NC rifle. Background information was collected on the acquisition process of the rifle, institutional maintenance strategies and the current way of controlling technical parameters, finding failures and weakness of the current system, mainly because there are no monitoring models to control. With the use of maintenance engineering tools and supported by Chilean standards, a Monitoring Plan was developed in order to implement effective control, through a representative sample at the national level, for conformity assessment, and to verify that the guns used in the land force (after the initial certification), meet the specified requirements throughout the life cycle operation and maintenance stage.
